Plant Invasions: Drivers and mechanisms

My research focuses on figuring out how invasive plant species, these can be native or non-native,  establish and persist in the landscape. I look at what drivers and mechanisms are present or absent that have allowed these plants to increase in dominance. To do this research I use multiple approaches through experimental and observational at multiple scale, both temporal and spatial. To answer the desired questions I use a suite of techniques from community analyses to leaf-level gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence, to stable isotopes and non-structural carbohydrate extractions and finally the development of statistical models. The majority of my research occurs in grasslands, savannas and steppes.
